In William Blake's time he was not a well know poet, instead he was ridiculed and not recognized as a good poet. In his time Blake was known for his engravings and designs more than the poetry that he wrote. With that said he did not make a living off his poetry, it was the designs and engravings that he created that got him anywhere in his life time. Today he is considered one of the major poets of English Literature. Some of the most popular books written by Blake were his Songs of Innocence, and Songs of Experience volumes. There was more then one installment of each of them.
